Best of the Fest (and the Rest)

We continue with our new regular feature of staff picks from our Winter Festival and everything else London has to offer this season. This week our Development Administrator, Mia, lets us know what she’s looking forward to.

I am very much looking forward to Monteverdi Explored on Friday 7 January with La Nuova Musica and presented by Sam Glazer. A guided listening concert, the programme is designed to be accessible to children and anyone else interested in learning more about the composer, his music, and the times in which he lived. Having been to previous Spitalfields Music guided listening concerts, and having seen LNM and Sam Glazer in action, I can safely say that this will be as enjoyable for us big kids as it will be for the little ones. The interactive nature of these concerts are extremely engaging and offer a fun, refreshing and intelligent approach to early music appreciation and create a shared experience that everyone can have fun with and learn from.

“This will be as enjoyable for us big kids as it will be for the little ones!”

I’m also very intrigued by the Toynbee Hall Winter Festival coming up on Friday 10 December. Promising a range of stalls, games, workshops (including circus skills!), talks, face-painting, henna tattooing, cakes and live music, I’m anticipating this will be an extremely entertaining day  (especially for anyone witnessing me in a circus skills workshop). All this for free too!
