Listen: Music of the North Sea

In June, Chris Stout and Catriona McKay will be joining the magnificent Scottish Ensemble to tell the story of Sally Beamish’s Seavaigers.

The double concerto for Shetland fiddle and Scottish harp tells the tumultuous tale of a ship’s journey from Dundee to Shetland across the North Sea. See the video below for some stunning playing from all the musicians involved, and taking their research very seriously, of course they had to perform onboard a boat at some point…

We’d also like to say a huge congratulations to Sally who has received a nomination at the RPS Music Awards for her large-scale composition Flodden. Fingers crossed, Sally!
