Next week we’re excited to be heading back to Village Underground for the first in our 2014-15 CLoSer series with City of London Sinfonia. To get you in the mood we’ve put together an unusual Shakespearean playlist of what’s in store.
In the programme is Shostakovich’s outrageous re-working of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, turning the play into a biting political satire and borrowing from cabaret and film music, first performed against the backdrop of cultural massive upheaval in 1930s Russia. You’ll also hear Korngold’s music for Much Ado About Nothing and discover why he became one of the pioneers of the Hollywood film music industry later in his life.
You can still book tickets for this concert: to get yours now head to our website.
